Okinawa Obon
It has been awhile since my last post. Quite busy here and would like to thank all the customers for stopping by during the summer break! Obon is a time to welcome the spirits of ancestors back to the land of the living. Okinawans celebrate by gathering at the family shrine (Ohaka) and praying for the spirits continued support from beyond. I attend the family gathering down in Naha and it is always a joyous time. There are also Eisa Dancers that parade through the streets to give this time a more festive feeling. I love this time and it reminds me of my "Mexican Heritage" which celebrate Dia De Los Muertos. Let's just say I have not suffered culture shock living in Okinawa. Labor Day weekend is upon us and I welcome all driving to the north. Stop by and enjoy the mojitos and margaritas!

July 4th on the Lawn!
Many came out to enjoy a summer evening on the lawn and celebrate America's Birthday! Thanks to Northern Code, everyone was able to enjoy a lot of great music. As they broke into "Born in the USA", I was taken back to the 80's and my time as an teen growing up in small town America! Although, I miss the USA from time to time, these guys brought a little bit of it to Okinawa and for that I am grateful! Stay in touch to catch their next show!
